Principal rules :
Although "o'clock" may be left out in English, the expression heure(s) must be used in French when giving the time.

Quelle heure est-il?
What time is it?
Il est dix heures.
It's ten. (It's ten o'clock)

How to distinguish between A.M. and P.M. :

…du matin	in the morning
ex : Il est dix heures du matin.
…de l'après midi	in the afternoon
ex : Il est deux heures de l'après-midi.
…du soir	in the evening
ex : Il est huit heures du soir

But the hour written to 24 hours is also used: Il est 9 heures: Will mean 9:00a.m Il est 21 heures: Will mean 9:00p.m

How to indicate the half hour and quarter hours :

00:15	et quart.
00:30	et demie.
00:45	moins le quart.
Used :
1:15	Il est une heure et quart.
2:30	Il est deux heures et demie.
2:45	Il est trois heures moins le quart.

How to indicate the minutes :

10:10	Il est dix heures dix.
6:25	Il est six heures vingt-cinq.
7:35	Il est sept heures trente-cinq.
2:52	Il est deux heures cinquante-deux.

How to ask what time something is scheduled :
A quelle heure est le concert?
At what time is the concert?
Le concert est à huit heures.
The concert is at eight.

How to say you have an appointment or date :
J'ai un rendez-vous à ...
I have an appointment at...
Ex : J'ai un rendez-vous à deux heures.

You could see sometimes the following notation :
9h30 --> 9:30 --> 9:30a.m
21h30 --> 21:30 --> 9:30p.m
