The verb "avoir" is one of the most used verbs and so one of the most important verb just like "to have" in English.

These are all the present tense forms for "avoir":

J'AI

- I have
Tu AS - you have
Il/Elle A

- he/she/it has
On A - one has
Nous AVONS

- we have
Vous AVEZ

- you have
Ils/Elles ONT

- they have

Examples :
J'ai un chat noir. - I have a black cat.
Tu as un rhume. - You have a cold.
Elle a des cheveux blonds. - She has blond hair.
Nous avons des billets de cinéma. - We have cinema tickets.
Vous avez une belle voiture! - You have a nice car!
Ils ont plusieurs maisons. - They have several houses.
